Laura L.C. Johnson, MBA, MA, LMFT, LPCC, is the Director of the Cognitive Behavior Therapy Center of Silicon Valley, where she sees teenagers and families with anxiety and related disorders as well as trains and manages other cognitive behavior therapists in delivering evidence-based therapy. Laura has a positive, strength-based approach to help teens develop positive emotions, optimism and resilience, while helping them to reduce unhelpful emotions, thoughts and behaviors.

Laura has extensive training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for teenagers with anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), in schema therapy for chronic anxiety and depression and in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) for emotion regulation. Laura is certified in cognitive behavior therapy by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy , advanced certified in Schema Therapy, a graduate of the year long extramural program at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, intensively trained in dialectical behavior therapy by Behavioral Tech and a graduate of the OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute.

Laura has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in health psychology from Santa Clara University as well as an MBA from Columbia University and a BA in Communication from the University of Miami. In addition to private practice, Laura has worked with adults, children, teens and families at Kaiser Permanente, the County of Santa Clara, Willow Glen High School and the YWCA of Silicon Valley. Laura completed a post-graduate internship at the Child and Adolescent Clinic at Kaiser Permanente in San Jose, where she provided family and group therapy to hundreds of teenagers and families with anxiety and related problems.
